Happy New Year

I, for one, am glad that 2009 is here and that I am done cooking for awhile. It's been a crazy week of celebrating around here. Time to detox, eat better and exercise!

We were supposed to have a New Year's Eve Party at our house, but the power went out and didn't come back on for over 24 hours. We prepared a lot of the food in the dark and then took it over to our friend's house.

We had Hot Smoked Salmon with Chipotle Crema

Potato Skins with bacon and cheddar cheese

Garlic Shrimp

Pizzettes with gorgonzola, tomato and basil

Oyster Stew

Vidalia Onion Dip

Lamb A La Tommy (Our friend Tommy makes his famous rub for the lamb chops)

Crab and English Muffin Thingies (an old family recipe)

Nancy's Crab Dip

Asparagus with mozzarella and prosciutto

Hmmm...and I wonder why I have a weight problem!

Hope you all have a Happy New Year!

The best news of 2009 thus far...when we got home yesterday, King Titus, our beta fish, was floating. We were sure that he was dead (remember we had no heat and it was 40 degrees in our house when we got home) and were planning his fishuneral. Miraculously this morning he was swimming around again. Thank goodness we were moving slowly and didn't get around to flushing King Titus! Flushed alive...now that would be a bummer.

WOW. Y'all had quite the spread! I wish I could have hung around there to taste test it all! Plus, maybe we wouldn't have been in the ER! I started (finally) printing out my holiday pics tonight and have already informed Todd the Bod that he is on baby Duty tomorrow. So, maybe I can get cracka lackin on my book too. Melanie

Wow, I am drooling over your pics. What a party spread! I would have packed on a few pounds at that party too!

I'm sorry, but I had to snicker at your story about King Titus. I'm glad you were slow to flush him. But, what a story.

Hope you are all warm and toasty now!
